This Chester County Armory listing is for a like new condition, German Heckler & Koch MP5/40 .40S&W fully transferable four position (0,1,2,F) select fire submachine gun. This is German factory original German receiver submachine gun as denoted by its “C” prefix HK serial number and is not a converted semi-automatic model.
This exceptional model was originally made in Oberndorf, West Germany in 1984 by Heckler & Koch GmbH as a factory 9mm machine gun. It was then subsequently imported by H&K themselves into the United States as a direct sale for a US Law Enforcement agency. Based on BATFE’s import rules and provisions in the Gun Control Act of 1968 (as well as designations made in the Firearm Owner’s Protection Act of 1986), this allows models meeting certain LE use and purchase requirements to be classified as transferable models upon release by the LE agency, even though it is a post-1968 foreign-made machine gun.
In 2014, the original 9mm caliber configuration of this weapon was professionally upgraded to an MP5/40 .40S&W version by renowned HK Gunsmith Jayson Cotter of Investment Grade Firearms using all original German MP5/40 factory parts. Jayson’s upgrades and gunsmithing work on this model are absolutely stellar, as he was often considered by industry experts to have had some of the best physical workmanship in the industry when it came to HKs. All components of this weapon are German HK factory correct. This model features the HK Navy ambidextrous 0,1,2,F fire control housing and unit with safe, semi-automatic, two round burst, and full-automatic positions along with a German threaded tri-lug barrel with the factory thread protector. It also features the correct HK original A3 collapsible stock with cutout for the left side bolt hold open that is a defining feature on the MP5/40 and MP5/10 models. Purchase of this weapon will include four factory original HK .40S&W translucent magazines, along with a factory HK double magazine clamp. Two of the magazines are HK LE Restricted marked and two are standard HK production magazines.
As an original, H&K factory production gun, this transferable select-fire machine gun features the H&K machine gun push pin design that allows all H&K factory trigger packs to be installed.
Overall, this model is in absolutely outstanding, like new condition. Mechanically, it is is like-new condition and operates flawlessly with standard SAAMI spec .40S&W ammunition. The metalwork notes no dings, dents, or malformations. The bolt face is crisp and clean. The barrel is bright and shiny with crisp, clean rifling. and the four position Navy pictogram fire control group and housing are in like new condition. Cosmetically, the exterior finish also appears in stunning, like-new condition. The polymer forend and stock are in excellent condition, as well, with only limited handling marks observed.
This fantastic, investment-grade, German Heckler & Koch transferable MP5/40 submachine gun is currently on a Form 3 for easy transfer. The current NFA paperwork lists “Imported NFA Firearm” as the manufacturer and “MP5A3” as the model.
