Status: In-Stock / Please Call to Purchase
This Chester County Armory sale listing is for a rarity in the NFA world….a Russian-designed PP-19 Bizon 9x19mm NATO transferable NFA registered receiver AK machine gun manufactured with US made parts and magazines.
This spectacular transferable select-fire submachine gun was meticulously crafted by famed AK gunsmith Mike Friend of Firing Line in Wyandotte, OK using a transferable HTA converted Armi Jager AP80 steel NFA registered AK receiver and a combination of Kalashnikov USA K9 and ST Inc. American-made parts and magazines. This model will accept the ST Inc. American-made STizon drum magazines that hold 58 rounds of 9x19mm ammunition. These drum magazines fit and function similar to their original Russian counterparts (except for a small change in the latch mechanism for attachment) but without the almost unobtanium cost associated with the original Russian magazines in the US.
The PP-19 Bizon was originally designed and produced by Russian small arms company Izhmash in 1993 as an LE counter-terrorism weapon, capable of providing fast and accurate close range fire with a large capacity, in a caliber meant for CQB type applications. Originally designed in 9×18 Makarov, it is more commonly seen in 9x19mm Parabellum due to a Gen 2 adaptation by Izhmash that sacrificed only 9 rounds of ammunition to allow for use out to 200m instead of the 100m limit of the Makarov round, as well as to give it more commercial appeal world-wide. The Gen 2 alliteration of the Bizon was offered in 7 total variants, with 9x19mm Parabellum being the most successful globally.
Due to the closed bolt, straight blowback design, the gas system utilized on a standard AK rifle has been removed, and replaced with a weighted bolt system that physically appears similar to an AK piston. The Bizon shares the same receiver dimensions, trigger group, and selector controls as the AK-74 rifle and over a 60% commonality in parts. The selector lever is located on the right side of the receiver and has three settings: a fully up, unmarked safe setting that disables the trigger and physically blocks the charging handle; the middle position (marked “АВ”) enables fully automatic fire, and the lowest position (“ОД”) allows the weapon to fire in a semi-automatic mode. The Bizon also features the same left-side folding stock as the AKS-74, and, t’s most distinctive feature, a helical magazine that is similar to that seen on the Calico 9mm weapons of the 1980’s.
Mike Friend’s impressive work on this model has replicated the receiver markings exactly as what would be expected on a true Russian weapon. (The NFA registered receiver also retains its legally-required original manufacturer and importation markings, as well). Mechanically, this submachine gun runs flawlessly, just like one would expect an AK machine gun to fire. This weapon is in like new condition, and has not been fired outside of all testing and evaluation that was completed by Firing Line. The internal mechanisms show no wear. The bolt face is clean and strong. The bore is bright and shiny with crisp, clean, well-delineated rifling. The bolt assembly itself notes no wear markings n the finished bolt.
Cosmetically, this amazing weapon is also in like-new condition, with only limited handling marks noted in the matte black finish. The selector lever engagement does note the tell-tale “AK line” from operation, but apart from that, the finish is completely intact on all areas of the weapon. This weapon will come with two 58rd American-made STizon drum magazines.
This NFA transferable machine gun is currently available on an eForm capable Form 3 that lists “Armi Jager.” as the manufacturer and “AP80″ as the model. The Form 3 has been recently updated with ATF to note the caliber as 9mm, the barrel length as 8.25″ and the overall length as 27.75”
