This Chester County Armory listing is for an Egyptian Maadi Factory 54 AKM 7.62x39mm transferable select fire machine gun.

This low serial number, early-import model was built in the famed Egyptian Maadi Factory 54 in Cairo, Egypt as a semi-automatic ARM model, then imported into the US by Steyr in Secaucus, NJ.  Maadi AK’s are prized and sought after in the US as being one of the closest to original Russian models ever imported. Maadi AK’s were first built on Russian tooling in Cairo and under the direct tutelage of Soviet engineers, using original AKM parts.  After its import into the US, this model was then converted and NFA registered by expert Class 3 gunsmith Neal Smith, Jr. of Mentor, OH. Smith’s conversion was properly performed using a full protected rail slot for the trip lever, unlike many of the conversions seen that simply cut and removed the rail.

This model is in overall excellent condition both mechanically and cosmetically. Mechanically, this model runs flawlessly with standard SAAMI spec ammunition. The mirror-like bore remains bright and shiny with crisp, clean rifling. The bolt face is crisp and clean. The bolt carrier notes only minor finish wear. The internals are in excellent condition with limited wear observed. The piston is clean and free of any concerns. All observed serialized parts are number matching to the receiver.

Cosmetically, this magnificent model sports the original slightly gloss finish that Maadi AK’s were known for, as well as its original laminate stock, forend, and plastic pistol grip. The metalwork and the original factory furniture are in excellent condition and note only very minor handling and use marks (most notably, the tell-tale “AK line” on the operational area of the safety and fire control selector.

This gorgeous, investment grad, fully transferable AK machine gun is currently on a Form 3. The current Form 3 lists “Form 2 Registration” as the manufacturer and “ARM” as the model.
