This Chester County Armory listing is for a Heckler & Koch HK416 PDW 5.56mm NATO transferable machine gun.

This rarely seen machine gun setup consists of an NFA fully transferable DIAS (drop-in auto sear) built by Whitman for use in the AR-15/M16 family of weapons, along with a Heckler & Koch HK416 PDW 5.56mm NFA registered short barrel rifle as a host gun for the removable DIAS. This weapon features three position fire controls consisting of safe, semi-automatic, and full-automatic.

This magnificent host gun was originally imported by Hurricane Butterfly as a semi-automatic pistol and then NFA registered as an SBR. It features an original German HK PDW stock and buffer system that was first designed by HK for their HK416C system. It also notes all German internal fire controls, a 10.3″ barrel and gas system, and comes with an original HK 416 steel 30rd magazine. The serial numbers of both the HK416 lower and the HK416 upper are matching. With the exception of some minor gunsmithing for the correct fitment of the transferable US made and registered DIAS, all parts on this weapon are original German manufactured parts.

Mechanically, this weapon is in outstanding condition with no mechanical concerns whatsoever. It funs flawlessly with standard 5.56mm NATO SAAMI-spec ammunition. The bore remains bright and shiny with crisp clean rifling. The BCG notes only minor wear markings. The bolt face remains crisp and clean. The fire control group notes no wear or concerns. Cosmetically, this weapon is in outstanding condition, with only minor surface handling marks observed in it is original factory finish, most notably a small mark on the brass deflector and some minor markings on the upper rail where optics where previously mounted and then removed.

This weapon system will require two separate NFA transfers; one for the transferable DIAS machine gun and one for the NFA SBR host gun. Because the host weapon is a separate NFA SBR item, the transferable DIAS may be removed at any time and lawfully placed into other AR/M16 family of weapons without creating an unintended or unlawful model left behind. Both items are currently on eForm-capable Form 3s for quick and easy transfer. The current Form 3 for the transferable DIAS machine gun lists “Whitman” as the manufacturer and “M16” as the model. The SBR host model’s Form 3 lists “Hurricane Butterfly” as the manufacturer and “HK416” as the model.
