This Chester County Armory listing is for a factory original US Property marked Harrington & Richardson M16A1 5.56mm NATO transferable machine gun.

This spectacular piece of the history is one of the approximately 246,000 M16’s made by gunmaker Harrington & Richardson in Worcester, MA during the the late 1960’s – early 1970’s.  H&R’s military contract was in order to supplement Colt’s domestic production of M16’s for the US military during the Vietnam War. Property marked for US possession,  yet never delivered to the military, approximately 59 of these NFA transferable M16A1’s were kept in-house by H&R and then sold off via public auction at H&R’s bankruptcy sale in the mid 1980’s. All 59 of those models were purchased by a single buyer; former Colt employee and NFA collector John Keosayian. This model, documented by serial number, is one of the auction models originally purchased and transferred to Mr. Keosayian.  It is the third lowest serial number in the two million range to come out of that sale.

This weapon is in overall excellent condition. It appears that all parts are factory H&R correct. The fire control group is in fantastic condition, with almost no wear marks noted on the sear or the disconnector and only minor markings noted on the face of the hammer. The bolt carrier group notes minor finish wear on the rail portions and slight finish wear on the bolt and locking lugs, as well. The bore and chamber remain original, with no noted erosion. Barrel rifling remains crisp, clean, and well-delineated.  Cosmetically, the exterior metalwork notes some minor finish wear on the front sight assembly and some light surface markings on the barrel exterior. The upper and lower receiver are in fantastic condition, with only some minor handling marks at spots. The original polymer triangular forearm and Type D stock only show some light surface scratches and handling marks in various areas, as well.

This amazing piece of firearm history and investment grade NFA machine gun is fully transferable and currently on a Form 3 for quick and easy transfer. The current Form 3 correctly lists “Harrington and Richardson” as the manufacturer and “M16A1” as the model.
