This Chester County Armory listing is for a German MP-40 9mm fully transferable submachine gun by Wilson Arms Co.
Designed in 1938 by Heinrich Vollmer by making improvements on the German MP38, the MP40 (or Maschinenpistole 40) was one of the most successful submachine gun models to come out of WW2, especially for the Axis powers. This model was built and registered by Martin Wilson of Wilson Arms in Brunswick, GA using his own registered receiver tube and original German MP40 parts. In addition to the WIlson Arms registered receiver, this model proudly sports a “bnz 42” marked lower receiver and stock assembly, noting production of that main assembly would have been by Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG in Steyr, Austria. Waffenamt marks are also visible on the rear assembly. The firing pin and barrel are not serial number matches to the lower assembly, as is common with many of the WIlson Arms registered models.
The transferable submachine gun is an absolutely outstanding model for the collector who is looking for a shooter machine gun, but yet wants one that appears in pristine condition. The metalwork is solidly intact, with no dents, dings, cracks, malformations, etc. observed. The registered Wilson tube appears in like new condition. The original German stock and trigger group are in fantastic physical condition. The German barrel appears like new, with no wear noted internally. Rifling remain crisp and very clean. The bolt and firing pin assembly note only moderate finish wear. The lower receiver and original Bakelite furniture are in excellent condition with only limited handling marks and finish wear observed.
Cosmetically, the weapon appears in overall excellent condition, with only very minute handling marks observed in the slightly matte blue finish. No corrosion or detrimental concerns in the metalwork is noted. Overall, it appears that this model has seen very limited firing time since it’s build by Wilson Arms.
Purchase of this weapon will include two original German MP41 32rd detachable box magazines.
This fully transferable submachine gun is currently on a Form 3 for quick and easy transfer. The current NFA Form 3 lists “Wilson, James DBA Wilson Arms Co.” as the manufacturer and “MP40” as the model.
