This Chester County Armory listing is for a Chartered Industries of Singapore (CIS) Singapore Assault Rifle 80 (SAR 80) 5.56mm NATO Pre May Dealer Sample Only machine gun.

Originally designed and built for the Singapore Armed Forces as a domestically produced conventional assault rifle to take the place of the US produced M16’s that the SAF was using prior, the SAR 80 is loosely based off the Armalite AR-18 and the Sterling Armament LAR designs.  It’s internal operational parts follow closely to the AR-18, while it’s physical appearance is more that of the LAR.  This gas operated, rotating bolt model features an 18″ barrel, as well as a side-folding paratrooper style stock. It uses NATO standard STANAG M16 type magazines.

This rarely seen SAR 80 is in excellent overall condition. It was imported by Sherwood International in Northridge, CA. Mechanically, it is in fantastic condition, and appears to have been fired very little, as the bore is bright and shiny with crisp, clean rifling. The bolt face is clean and intact, and the interior components note very little wear. Cosmetically, the original exterior matte crinkle finish is in excellent condition, with almost no handling marks of note. The barrel and forearm are also in overall excellent condition. There is one small mark in the metalwork on the top of the folding stock that appears to be from storage, but otherwise, the weapon is in amazing condition.

This Pre-May 1986 Dealer Sample Only machine gun is available for purchase by Class 3 FFL/SOT holders, only. It will come with one 30 round magazine. This model is a “keeper” gun, that may be retained by a licensee upon surrender of their FFL license. It is currently on a Form 3 that lists the manufacturer as “Imported NFA Firearm” and the model as “SAR 80.”
