This Chester County Armory listing is for a like new–in-box original, factory built and NFA registered Model 1928 Thompson .45acp fully transferable submachine gun built by Auto Ordnance as a commemorative tribute model to both the weapon and the soldiers that successfully used the 1928 Thompson in defending freedom everywhere during World War 2.
Built as a factory submachine gun and not a conversion, this beautiful 1928 model Thompson was commissioned by The American Historical Foundation in Richmond, VA and manufactured by Auto-Ordnance Corporation in West Hurley, New York. This model has been reportedly used for display only, and has not been fired outside of any original test firing that took place in the Auto-Ordnance factory.
This transferable Thompson is in overall excellent condition both mechanically and cosmetically. Mechanically, all mechanisms operate smoothly and appropriately. The bore remains bright and shiny with crisp, clean rifling. No dents, dings, or malformations are observed in either the metalwork or the wood components.
Cosmetically, this model is in pristine, like new condition. The weapon denotes some very light minor handling and storage marks at spots (most notably on the underside of the front of the buttstock where it appears to have rested on a display rack). It appears to maintain approximately 98-99% of its original high polished blue and gold-plated finish, with only minor surface wear observed at the point of contact of the actuator to the top of the machine gun receiver. The original issued leather rifle sling remains in excellent condition, as well, with only minor surface markings observed. Purchase of this model will include both the original shipping box from Auto-Ordnance, an original leather sling, and an original 30rd magazine in a matching high polish blue finish.
The excellent NFA collector grade transferable submachine gun is currently on an eForm ready Form 3 that lists “FORM 2 REGISTRATION” as the manufacturer and “1928” as the model.
