This Chester County Armory listing is for a Colt factory original M16A1 Model 613 5.56mm NATO transferable machine gun.

The Colt Model 603 (the official, pre US Military adoption name for the M16A1) is arguable the most ubiquitous of the M16 series of models, as it combined the original M16 design with the upgraded A1 features demanded by the US military. This, in turn, drove worldwide demand for this version of the M16A1 for Colt. When built by Colt for commercial export or law enforcement sales,  the Model 603 designation was changed to 613. Colt’s production of the 613 continued from the late 1960’s well into the early 1980’s.

This particular transferable machine guns boasts a serial number in the early nine million range, showing that it would have been produced by Colt in the late 1970’s, and was either intended originally for commercial export or for a domestic LE sale prior to its current location in the US commercial market. This spectacular factory transferable machine gun features the fixed carry handle A1 upper with a teardrop forward assist, it’s original A1 furniture with a Type E stock, and triangular handguards over a 1/12 twist barrel with full birdcage flash hider.  It proudly displays the M16 marking on the left side of the magazine well, along with manufacturer information of “Colt’s Firearm Division, Colt Industries” above it’s SAFE, SEMI, and AUTO marked fire controls. 

Overall, this weapon is in outstanding condition and appears to have been fired very little. Mechanically, the interior fire controls and bolt are clean, with only moderate finish wear noted on the BCG and the hammer. The sear notes only minor markings. The original bolt face remains clean and crisp, with solid, squared-off lugs. The original parkerized, “C” marked bolt carrier also only shows minor wear markings. The bore remains clean with crisp, well-delineated rifling.

Cosmetically, this weapon is also in beautiful condition. The original Colt gray anodization is in great shape, with only minor handling surface marks visible in the exterior finish. The color is clean an consistent throughout the receiver. The original polymer furniture displays some minor surface handling marks and light scratches, but nothing of any structural or functional concern.  Purchase of this transferable factory Colt machine gun will include an original mid 1970’s M16A1 commercial factory manual, along with an owners pack of a Colt mil-spec cleaning rod and brush, chamber brush, oil bottle, detail brush, and military sling. A total of six Colt factory aluminum magazines are also included (three 30rd magazines and three 20rd magazines).

This factory original Colt M16A1 Model 613 machine gun is fully transferable and currently on a Form 3. The current Form 3 lists “Colt” as the manufacturer and “M16” as the model.
