This Chester County Armory sale listing is for a Sterling MK III 9mm Parabellum transferable submachine gun.
Commonly referred to in the NFA world as a “STEN-ling,” this transferable machine gun was professionally built using an original, NFA registered, C&R eligible, imported STEN submachine gun and transforming into a Sterling Mk III model through the addition of an original Sterling parts kit. The gunsmith who completed the work is unknown to us, but based on the excellent build and finish quality, was a highly skilled gunsmith. This model features the rarely seen MK III parts that were only available from 1955-1956 before a changeover to the MK IV configuration began in 1956. Purchase will include one 34rd magazine.
This transferable submachine gun is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. It has been fully inspected and test fired. It runs absolutely flawlessly with standard SAAMI spec 9mm ammunition. Mechanically, this bolt notes only minor wear. The bolt face remains crisp and well-definied. Spring tension is solid. The metalwork notes no dents, dings, gouges, cracks, malformations, etc. The bore remains bright and shiny with crisp, clean rifling. The folding stock mechanism locks solidly and operates appropriately. Cosmetically, the matte crinkle finish is outstanding, with only minor handling marks observed.
This transferable C&R eligible submachine gun is currently on an eForm capable Form 3 that lists “STEN” as the manufacturer and “MARKIII” as the model.
