This Chester County Armory listing is for an all-German, factory original, Heckler & Koch HK53 A3/A2 5.56mm NATO fully transferable, select fire submachine gun. This is a German factory built original transferable machine gun and is not a conversion model.
This exceptional model was originally made in Oberndorf, West Germany in 1984 by Heckler & Koch GmBH as a factory machine gun. It was then subsequently imported by H&K themselves into the United States as a direct sale for a US Law Enforcement agency. Based on BATFE’s import rules and provisions in the Gun Control Act of 1968 (as well as designations made in the Firearm Owner’s Protection Act of 1986), this allows models meeting certain LE use and purchase requirements to be classified as transferable models upon release by the LE agency, even though it is a post-1968 foreign-made machine gun.
As an original, H&K factory production gun, this transferable select-fire machine gun features the H&K machine gun push pin design that allows all H&K factory trigger packs to be installed. This model is IE date coded (1984) and features an HK three position Navy ambidextrous trigger pack with safe, semi-automatic, and full-automatic fire modes. It also features its original HK A3 collapsible stock and factory tri-lug barrel. Purchase of this model will also include an original 30rd German magazine that is H&K LE/Military Restricted marked.
Overall, this model is in outstanding, like-new condition. It is in well above average condition as a former LE imported gun, where most versions are either significantly used or arsenal refinished. This model retains its original factory finish, and appears to have been operated very sparingly. Most likely, this transferable machine gun was kept as an armory extra, or in another capacity by the former LE department where it saw very little to no use. Cosmetically, the weapon original factory finish of the metal is in like new condition, with only one very handling mark observed on the top of the receiver at the MP5 engraving. The barrel finish appears to have never had a suppressor or anything mounted to it. The only other handling marks that is observed are a small area on the polymer of the rear stock.
Mechanically, this transferable MP5 submachine gun is also in superb condition. The metalwork is solid. The bore remains bright and shiny with crisp rifling. The bolt and bolt carrier note only very minor wear, and the fire control group notes only minor wear, as well.
This fantastic, investment-grade, German factory original Heckler & Koch transferable submachine gun is currently on a Form 3 for easy transfer. The current NFA paperwork lists “Imported NFA Firearm” as the manufacturer and “MP5A3” as the model.
