Colt Model 635 9MM SMG Transferable Sub Machine Gun, Colt Production Model Number 9
Status: In-Stock / Please Call to Purchase
This Chester County Armory listing is for a Colt Model 635 9mm SMG sub machine gun that was one of the first ten ever built by Colt. It boasts the extremely low serial number of HT001008.
As Colt has often been known to do throughout their history, the first serial number officially produced of this model didn’t start at serial number 1, but production started at serial number 1000. The serial number on this amazing piece of history is HT001008, making in the 9th factory production model ever produced. The HT prefix was used by Colt to differentiate the receivers that would be designated for 9mm SMG full-auto models from the standard M16A2’s being produced at the time. It has been reported that HT was chosen as the official prefix for this model as an homage and thank you to Colt’s lead designer on the 9mm SMG project, Henry “Hank” Tatro.
The Colt Model 635 was officially offered by Colt starting in 1985, so there were very few transferable versions of this spectacular SMG created by Colt prior to the May 1986 NFA registry cut-off. Not only is this an excellent chance to own a rare, Colt factory produced 9mm SMG, but even more rare and unique to own one of the first ten to roll off the production line.
This rare model is in excellent overall condition, and appears to have been seen very little live-fire use. Mechanically it is in pristine condition, with only very minor wear noted on the bolt carrier group and the fire control internals. The bolt face is crisp and clean. The metalwork displays no cracks, dents, dings, gouges, malformations, etc., or anything that would be a cause for operational concern. The bore is bright and shiny and the rifling remains crisp and clean.
Cosmetically, this transferable machine gun is also in overall excellent condition, with only minor surface and handling marks in the original exterior parkerization (see photos). The bottom of the magazine well does note some minor marks from magazine insertions into the magazine well, but nothing that is more than cosmetic in nature. This model features Colt’s original 10.5″ length SMG barrel and early style M16 upper with no forward assist. It also utilizes the original A1 sights with 0-50m and 50m+ apertures. This model will come with a Chester County Armory provided original Colt box, manual, and blue vapor bag, however these items are not original to this particular weapon, but are approximately age correct for the production of the weapon.
This fully transferable factory-built submachine gun is currently available on an eForm-capable Form 3 for quick and easy transfer.
