This Chester County Armory listing is for a pristine Harrington & Richardson M50 Reising .45acp transferable submachine gun.
This beautiful transferable submachine example is a 1943 World War II production version by Harrington & Richardson out of their Worchester, MA facility. This model is a second generation version, or what is often referred to as a “military” model as it has all of the generational upgrades that were requested by the US Navy and US Marine Corp after the initial test batches were fielded in combat. These upgrades include a parkerized finish for better durability, a 14 finned barrel (vs the original 28 finned barrel), an adjustable front sight, a two-piece articulated magazine release lever (push/pull), and an upgraded stock (sling swivels, stock ties (cross bolts), knurled takedown screw, and three-hole trigger guard). The serial number of this model is 102632 indicating production sometime in approximately August or September of 1943 based on known serial numbers.
This model is in a spectacular, collector grade condition. Mechanically, all mechanisms operate smoothly and appropriately. The bolt face remains crisp and clean with little wear observed. The bore remains bright and shiny with crisp, clean rifling with squared off lands noted. The metalwork notes no dings, dents, malformations, cracks, etc. It appears that this model has been fired very little, and is in amazing condition for a for an 80+ year old submachine gun.
Cosmetically, this model is also in well-above average condition. The metalwork retains almost all of its original parkerization and the finished has patinaed over time to a very eye-pleasing gray/auburn hue. A minor storage mark is observed on the right side of the compensator, most likely wear the metal touched a storage area for an extended period of time. The only other observed mark on the metalwork finish is at the metal-to-metal connection points of the fire control selector switch that makes contact with the receiver during operation. The original American black walnut stock on this transferable submachine gun is in fantastic condition with only one small minor indentation scratch noted on the right side of the stock and a small splinter along the edge of the selector switch. The remainder of the stock is like new, with no dents, dings, chips, scratches, etc. observed.
Purchase of this transferable submachine gun will include two factory original Harrington & Richardson Arms Company marked 20rd box magazines and an original US Military OD green rifle sling. Both the sling and magazines are in outstanding condition. The sling and hardware appear in like new condition and the magazines both feature stiff springs and solid followers, with only minor finish wear observed in the original factory finish.
This spectacular collectible submachine gun is fully transferable and C&R eligible. It is currently on a Form 3 for quick and easy purchase. The current NFA paperwork notes the manufacturer as “Harrington and Richardson” and the model as “50”
