Group Industries Browning Automatic Rifle BAR M1918A2 .30cal Transferable Machine Gun

This Chester County Armory listing is for an NFA fully transferable Browning Automatic Rifle Model (BAR) M1918A2 in .30-06SPR that was manufactured by Group Industries. 

This beautiful piece of American machine gun history was commercially manufactured by Group Industries of Louisville, KY using their own receiver and original military surplus components. This is an early production model by Group Industries, as it is noted to be serial number 22 from them. This BAR features an original black stock and forend, along with an original bipod and the slower, more controllable fire-rate controls the A2 BAR model was known for. The barrel is flaming bomb proofed and “P” stamped.

Mechanically, this model is in excellent condition with all mechanisms operating appropriately,  The bore remains shiny and reflective with clean rifling.  The bolt and carrier note minor wear from use, but the bolt, the bolt face, and the carrier all remain crisp and clean. The fire controls note only minor wear. The bipod and sights operate smoothly and appropriately.

Cosmetically, this transferable machine gun is in overall very good condition.  The metalwork appears to be all original finish with only minor handling and use marks observed. The metalwork has patinaed slightly at spots, with a minor corrosion spot that was cleaned noted on a thumb sized area at the top of the receiver on the left side. The stock and forearm are solidly intact, but note use and handling dents and marks. The carrying handle notes some small dents and chips, but remains solid. The exterior of the barrel and the metalwork of the carry handle note some minor surface markings, but nothing that has penetrated the metal surface.

This NFA transferable machine gun is currently on a Form 3 for quick and easy transfer. The current NFA Form 3 lists “BROWN MICHAEL, DBA GROUP INDUSTRIE” as the manufacturer and “M1918A2” as the model.
