This Chester County Armory listing is for a German World War II era MP-40 9mm fully transferable submachine gun that was NFA registered by Charles Erb.
This fantastic transferable submachine gun was NFA registered by Charles Erb using original German parts. Erb registered the receiver on this model as his own (adding his own manufacturing stamping), however it appears that the weapon uses mostly German original parts from the same weapon. Erb’s work is so good on this model we are unsure of the original method of reactivation, but are speculating it may have been though a DEWAT bolt assembly. The original German serial number of the Steyr manufactured “bnz.42” coded receiver endcap is the registered NFA serial number. All parts with serial numbers are observed to be era-correct and matching to the receiver, as well. The bolt and recoil assembly are non-serial numbered but appear to be German production original parts. The weapon has been refinished in a model appropriate bluing.
This MP40 submachine gun is in well-above average condition for these models. It is in excellent condition both mechanically and cosmetically. This model has been test-fired and runs flawlessly with standard 9mm NATO ammunition. The metalwork is solidly intact, with no dents, dings, cracks, malformations, etc. observed. The bolt and firing pin display only very minor finish wear. The lower receiver and furniture are in excellent condition with only limited handling marks and finish wear observed. The barrel rifling remains crisp and well-defined. Cosmetically, the bright blue finish is in wonderful condition, with a mirror like sheen on the receiver and only limited handling and use marks observed.
Purchase of this transferable submachine gun will include three original German MP38/MP40 32rd detachable box magazines.
This fully transferable submachine gun is currently on a Form 3 for quick and easy transfer. The current NFA Form 3 lists “Erb, Charles” as the manufacturer and “MP40” as the model.
