This Chester County Armory listing is for a like new condition Galil AR transferable machine gun in 7.62x39mm built off an original Finnish Valmet M78 receiver.
This fantastic transferable machine gun was professionally created using an NFA registered machine gun receiver that was originally imported into the US as a semi-automatic Finnish Valmet M78 rifle. This receiver was then converted by Hard Times Armory of Smyrna, GA and NFA registered as an NFA transferable machine gun receiver. From there, this model was further updated by using the NFA registered receiver and both original Israeli Galil parts and newly manufactured US Galil parts to professionally setup this model as a Galil AR machine gun in 7.62x39mm.
When originally first designed in the late 1960’s by Yisrael Galili and Yakov Lior in the late 1960s, the Valmet R62 was the point of inspiration and the basis for the development of the Galil models. In fact, the very first Galil rifle produced used a Valmet R62 receiver as its foundation. Noting very close dimensional configurations, as well as commonality of certain operational parts, The Valmet M78 lends itself wonderfully as a conversion basis for the Galil. This evolutionary AK transferable machine gun features a right side folding Galil stock and a 16″ barrel chambered in 7.62x39mm. This weapon will accept the market-plentiful standard AK-47 7.62x39mm magazine.
This weapon is in overall excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. Mechanically, this weapon functions flawlessly and has no operational or physical concerns, whatsoever. The internals note very little wear from use. The bolt and bolt carrier are both in excellent condition. The bolt face remains crisp and clean. The bolt carrier notes only a single minor finish wear spot observed on the top of the BCG piston arm. The barrel remains in like new condition with a bright and shiny bore and chamber, along with crisp, clean rifling.
Cosmetically, this model is also in excellent, like new condition. Both the metalwork and the polymer furniture are in beautiful condition with no dents, dings, cracks, malformations, etc. (see photos). The forend appears like-new with no handling marks. The original Israeli Galil polymer grip notes some minor handling marks in the gloss finish, but no cracks, deep scratches, or malformations in the polymer are noted.
This rarely seen and spectacular transferable machine gun is currently on an eForm-capable Form 3 for fast and easy transfer. The current Form 3 lists “Finland” as the manufacturer and “M78” as the model.
