This Chester County Armory listing is for a fully transferable Norinco Type 56-2 7.62x39mm select-fire AK machine gun.

This beautiful, collectible AK transferable machine gun originally started life as a semi-automatic Type 56S / AKM47S rifle made by Norinco in the famed Triangle 66 People’s Republic of China factory. It was imported into the US by InterAmerican Co. in Sacramento, CA and then converted to a select-fire automatic machine gun (Type 56) and NFA registered by way of a Form 2 registration.  This model is Type 56-2, which was an upgraded export variant of the original Type 56., that is defined by its rare, original, Chinese orange bakelite side-folding stock and matching furniture. Type 56-2 bakelite folding stock models were imported into the US in very limited numbers, and are one of the more desirable and hard-to-find versions of a Type 56 in all varieties, but especially in NFA registered machine gun setups. This model is also highly desirable because as an early import, the manufacturer and importer information was discretely placed on the barrel instead of on the side of the receiver, as this was allowed by ATF at the time but was subsequently changed after this importation. Due to this early import, this model notes no undesirable markings on the sides of the receiver, allowing it to be as closely resembling a factory machine gun model, as possible on a imported conversion gun.

This model is in overall excellent mechanical condition. This weapon runs flawlessly with standard SAAMI spec ammunition. All physical mechanisms operate correctly, smoothly, and appropriately. The mirror-like bore remains bright and shiny with crisp, clean rifling. The bolt face is crisp and clean. The original “in the white” bole carrier notes no wear and use markings and only minor spots of oxidation that has been removed. The bolt itself notes only minor finish. The internals are in very good condition with only minor finish wear observed.

Cosmetically, this magnificent model sports the original slightly gloss Norinco finish. The metalwork is in overall excellent to very good condition and notes only minor handling and use marks (most notably, the tell-tale “AK line” on the operational area of the safety and fire control selector). The rare Bakelite furniture is solid, and intact, with no cracks, dents, dings, etc.. The metalwork of the stock notes some minor finish chipping and the metal had patinaed at spots.

This fantastic investment grade, fully transferable AK Type 56 machine gun is currently on a Form 3. The current Form 3 lists “Form 2 Registration” as the manufacturer and “AKM47S” as the model.
